 Hilltop Hatcheries was founded in the
summer of 2001 with the intent to fill a need in Northwestern Pennsylvania
for a high quality game fish and ornamental fish hatchery. We are not just
entrepreneurs but lovers of everything aquatic. In this we saw a niche to be
filled and a way that we could spend our days immersed (excuse the pun) in
something that we love.
In July of 2003 we added
a greenhouse to carry the aquatic plants that we adore to fill our ponds.
This venture has shown us a whole new side of our business and has provided
us with yet another enjoyable way to spend our days.
Summer
of 2007 we have some news to report. As of the new laws regarding
VHS and the hatchery business the vast majority of our fish species and
bait are now certified disease free and registered with the U.S.
Fish and Wildlife Service. New regulations in place limit, or ban
the interstate transportation of fish. The laws vary a bit state
to state but our best action as a hatchery impacted by this is to have
our stock certified clean. We will continue to provide our
customers with the highest quality of fish available.
We
want to take this opportunity to thank all of our fantastic and loyal
customers as well as to invite everyone who shares our loves to stop by and
visit us this season. We look forward to seeing you at the hatchery and happy
pond keeping.
